Food Drive Ideas for the Winter Months
- Posted ByAdmin
- InCommunity, How You Can Help
The holiday season is over, but the fight against hunger is a year-round battle. One in 5 children in the United States struggle with food insecurity every day of the year, and we all need to do what we can to help keep the shelves stocked at our local food banks/pantries. Here are three food drive theme ideas to help get you started.
Resolve to Fight Hunger
Ring in the New Year and bring in the donations. Make it your resolution to hold a food drive and fight hunger in 2017. Think of it this way: someone else’s New Year will start off just as great as yours.
Winter Warmth
Winter can be a particularly harsh time of year for the nearly 50 million Americans who are facing hunger. Host a food drive and encourage your community to donate cans of soup/stew, hot chocolate mix, coffee, and hearty meals like canned chili.
Spread the Love
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of year to spread the love. When the holiday season ends, food banks often see a drop in donations. This is the perfect time of year to show you care and truly make a difference.
